13 Common Star Wars Battlefront Problems & How to Fix Them

Star Wars Battlefront updates have fixed a number of problems but they haven’t fixed them all. There still are a number of problems impacting all three versions of the game. With that in mind, we want to help you fix common Star Wars Battlefront problems on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

EA’s resurrected the Star Wars Battlefront series and its new title puts gamers in the shoes of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, stormtroopers, rebel soldiers, and more. It’s an impressive game but many players have been experiencing bugs and problems that have hampered their experience on Hoth and Endor.

The problems haven’t reached the level of Fallout 4 issues but that doesn’t make them any less annoying. PS4, PC and Xbox One users have been reporting a wide variety of Star Wars Battlefront problems including issues with graphics, connectivity, black screens, and more.

EA and DICE recently released a February Star Wars Battlefront update that tackles some of the biggest issues in the game but problems persist.

While we wait for the next Star Wars Battlefront patch, we want to outline some of common Star Wars Battlefront problems and offer some known fixes for them.

These fixes have worked for some people, but not all, and they’re worth a look if you run into issues with Star Wars Battlefront on PC, Xbox One or PS4.

How to Fix Star Wars Battlefront Black Screen Problems

A number of PC Star Wars Battlefront users are reporting black screen problems when firing up the game. Fortunately, there are several potential fixes.

The first thing to do is make sure that your PC can handle the game. If you’re below the threshold, this might be why you’re running into the problem. To check and see if your PC can handle the game, head over here to compare the minimum Battlefront PC specs versus your own.

If you are just below the minimum and you’re using either a quad-core CPU or a dual-core CPU with hyperthreading, try this fix from EA:

  • Open up Notepad and create a new file.
  • Add this text to the new file:

Thread.ProcessorCount 4

Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount -2

  • Save this file as user.cfg in the same folder as your starwarsbattlefront.exe file (the default location should be C:/Program Files(x86)/Origin Games/Star Wars Battlefront).
  • Restart Battlefront.

If you’re sure that your PC meets the requirements, try updating your graphics card. If you’re running an AMD graphics card, head here. If you’re using an NVIDIA graphics card, go here.

If that doesn’t help fix your black screen problems, try updating EA Origin. You can download the latest version right here. If you recently updated your operating system, EA recommends you reinstall Origin before starting Star Wars Battlefront.

If that still doesn’t work, and you’re using multiple graphics cards, try disabling Crossfire (AMD) or SLI (NVIDIA).

To disable Crossfire on AMD:

  • Right-click on your desktop and select Catalyst Control Center.
  • Open up the graphics menu.
  • Click on CrossfireX.
  • Uncheck the Enable Crossfire option.
  • Hit OK to save.

To disable SLI on NVIDIA:

  • Right-click on your desktop and select the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Select the 3D Settings section.
  • Click on Configure SLI, Surround, PhysX.
  • In the SLI configuration options, Disable SLI.
  • Hit Apply to save.

And finally, if you’re on Windows 7, make sure you have the Service Pack 1 installed.

If none of that helps, try lowering the graphics settings in your game. Obviously not ideal but it could help smooth out your performance.

If you are experiencing flickering problems in shaded areas when loading up a game in Star Wars Battlefront, and you are using a PC with an AMD card, there is a simple fix.
