October Nexus 5X Android Oreo Update
The October Android 8.0 Oreo build is focused on shoring up security.
Google's security bulletin runs down a long list of patches for the Nexus 5X and the company's other Nexus and Pixel devices and it's worth a look if you're curious about the contents of this update.
The OTA says the update also fixes bugs and improves performance. We haven't noticed any immediate differences between this build and the last one, but we'll continue digging and let you know what we find.
As for Android 8.0 itself, it delivers brand new emoji characters for its keyboard (some of which you can see here), improvements to Notifications, security features, Picture-in-Picture, improved boot speeds, a wide-gamut color for apps, Autofill, and so much more.
To help you get acquainted with Android Oreo we've put together a guide that will take you through all of the important changes on board the Nexus 5X's Android Oreo upgrade.
If that's not enough, Google's released its own guide that showcases many Android Oreo features in great detail.
Android Oreo has a ton of visible changes, but some are much harder to find. Make sure you dig in.
