You can expect Apple to tack performance improvements onto the iPad Air 5. 

Apple always makes generation-t0-generation upgrades so there's little doubt that we'll see some changes on board a new iPad Air.

We'll almost certainly see an upgraded processor (a report out of Japan claims it will utilize Apple's A15 chip) which should help in key areas like battery life, overall speed/multitasking, and gaming. 

9to5Mac and a report out of Korea claim the iPad Air 5 will actually have Apple's M1 chip on board which would put it in line with the iPad Pro line. The Korean report claims the device will have 8GB of RAM. 

There's also a chance Apple improves on the Touch ID system that arrived on board the fourth-generation iPad Air.

We could also see tweaks to other important features like the speakers. Mac Otakara says the iPad Air 5 could have a four speaker audio setup.
