Wait for Better Cameras

We haven't heard any rumors yet, but there's a good chance Apple makes some upgrades to the iPad mini's cameras.

The iPad mini 5's camera setup isn't great. The device uses an f/2.4 8-megapixel sensor that's similar to the one Apple used on the iPad mini 4. Remember, the iPad mini 4 launched all the way back in 2015.

It doesn't have a rear flash or 1080p video recording which means the setup is vastly inferior to the camera on the iPad Pro.

The iPad mini 5 does, however, feature a 7-megapixel front-facing camera which is an improvement.

So why do we think Apple might make some improvements to the iPad mini's camera?

Apple has developed new Augmented Reality (AR) features and they debuted on board the company's iPadOS 14 operating system.

The company's making a huge push into the AR space so it's possible we see it bring these experiences to the iPad mini line.

Of course it's also possible the company makes more modest changes to the iPad mini 6's cameras in an effort to keep the cost down.

Either way, we'd expect some change given how little changed the last time around.
