If you’d prefer your Amazon Echo have a less personal name, switch your wake word from “Alexa” to “Computer”. Read: How to Change Alexa Name on Echo & Echo Dot Open the Alexa app and select the name of the speaker you’d like to change the wake word on. Tap Wake Word in the list and select Computer, Amazon or Echo. Your speaker will restart. For now on it only answers to the new name you selected. You can change it back at any time.
