Don't buy an iPhone SE, or any other phone, until you've properly prepared. 

If your current device is on its last legs or you recently upgraded your home with new gadgets, you might be tempted to buy the Apple TV 4K right now. That's fine, but only if you've done your homework. 

Make sure you prepare before you pickup this device. This is especially important if you plan on buying the device for someone else. 

If you don't know much about your current television setup, you'll want to research your TV and look around for feedback from current Apple TV users. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

You'll also want to look into Apple's competitors. 

Amazon recently launched a new Fire TV and it comes with support for 4K and HDR content, just like the Apple 4K TV.

The cheaper Amazon Fire TV commands a $55 price point (at the moment) which means it's a whole lot cheaper than Apple's solution. 

Dig into reviews, weigh the pros and cons of these two and other competitors if you need to, and then make your decision.
