Apple TV 4K: 4 Reasons to Buy & 3 Reasons to Wait

Published

on

While some people will absolutely want to buy the Apple TV 4K, others should think about passing on the new model. For now at least.

Apple’s launched a brand new Apple TV alongside its iPhone X, iPhone 8, and Apple Watch 3.

The new Apple TV 4K is loaded with new features, but it’s also a little more expensive than previous models. Many of you are probably fine paying the premium for access to 4K content, but others might be better off with an older model or a device from another company.

We’ve seen a few Apple TV 4K deals emerge ahead of the holidays, but most retailers, including Apple, are still selling it at full price.

There are two versions of the Apple TV 4K. The model with the least amount of storage space, the 32GB variant, costs $179 in the United States. The more expensive model, the 64GB Apple TV 4K, is $200. The company’s 4th generation Apple TV is still on sale and slots in at a $150 price point.

If you’re currently on the fence about buying one for yourself or a loved one, our Apple 4K TV buyers guide will take you through the best reasons to buy the new Apple TV 4K in 2017 and some reasons why you might want to hold out for a few more days, a few more weeks, or in some cases, indefinitely.

Buy If You Own a 4K TV

Buy If You Own a 4K TV

One of the best reasons to buy or upgrade to an Apple TV 4K is if you own a 4K television.

This is the first Apple TV to support 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels). The previous models only support 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels).

If you own a television that supports 4K resolution, the content you stream via the Apple TV 4K will look absolutely stunning.

This is also Apple's most powerful Apple TV ever. It comes with a souped up A10X Fusion processor and 3GB of RAM. The previous model features an A8 processor and 2GB of RAM.

If you're a rabid Apple TV user and you own a 4K television, this is the Apple TV you should buy.
