Buy If You Own a 4K TV with HDR Support

Some 4K televisions support Dolby Vision and HDR10, some don't. If your television or projector does support HDR content, this is the right Apple TV for you. 

The new Apple TV 4K supports High Dynamic Range. You will need a television for this feature to work so make sure you check your TV before you open up your wallet. Many older and cheaper 4K TVs don't support HDR content. 

HDR makes your content look even better by providing richer and more colorful content. It'll bring your movies to life. 

Apple's library of HDR content on iTunes continues to grow and you'll also be able to stream 4K HDR content from Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. 

If you want to stream 4K HDR content via Netflix you'll need an upgraded subscription. You'll also need a fast internet connection. 

If you're using a slow internet connection you might not want to upgrade to 4K just yet. The content requires a high-speed Wi-Fi connection. Anything else could make the content unwatchable.
