Where & When to Check for Android Pie

If you're excited about Android Pie you're probably curious about the update's release date and time. It's going to vary on a device-by-device, carrier-by-carrier basis but here are a few things to keep in mind.

If you moved to the Galaxy Note 8 from an iPhone, you're used to getting software updates at a very precise time.

Apple's iOS updates almost always arrive in and around 10AM Pacific during the work week. Samsung's release protocol is much different.

It's difficult to predict exactly when your Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie update will arrive. Samsung's roll outs take place over several weeks (as opposed to a single day for the iPhone) with various release dates.

We expect the first Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie updates to start rolling out sometime this month or, if we're unlucky, in March.

Many carriers, AT&T and Verizon for example, like to keep their customers in the dark about release dates so as not to set expectations. Others, like Rogers, like to keep their customers informed about the testing process and post release date ahead of time.

If your carrier has an Android release schedule make sure you keep an eye on it as we push through the month.

If your carrier doesn't post an Android update schedule you should also keep an eye on support pages (like this one at AT&T) for information about the roll out.

Once the update starts rolling out for your Note 8 model, you'll want to occasionally check for the update in your Settings.
