Once your Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie update starts rolling out you should keep your device charged up. This way you'll be able to install the software right when it arrives if that's what you want to do.
Most Android software updates require you to have 20 percent of battery charge to complete the installation process. In the case of Android Pie, we recommend having 50% charge available on your Galaxy Note 8 because it's going to be a huge download. Again, we expect a 1.5GB-2GB file for those of you not on the beta. If you don't want to sit around waiting, make sure your device is charged up or just keep a charger nearby.

Telling a novice with phone software that they could downgrade from pie, and how to do it, is a terrible idea. The whole reason for monthly security updates is to keep you safe. If you’re not on the latest update (ie: Pie) then you will be vulnerable to many security problems.
