If It Does Roll Out, Expect a Long Wait

If Samsung decides to roll out a surprise Galaxy S7 Android Pie update, and that's obviously a huge if at this stage, there are some things to keep in mind.

First off, if the company does decide to do the upgrade, it'll be awhile before you get it. Samsung's Android roll outs don't happen overnight.

We could see the company release an Android Pie beta weeks before the official release. If that happened, the company would keep the Galaxy S7's update in testing for several weeks. 

Beta or not, it typically takes the company several months to deploy major Android software upgrades. So even if the Galaxy S7 Pie update rolled out in April or May, you might not see it until the summer or the fall. 

Remember, individual carriers would also need to test the software and this often prolongs the process by several weeks or more.
