If you keep getting alerts from websites that you don’t care about, this is how to turn off Chrome notifications from websites that keep annoying you with alerts.
If you use Chrome as your browser there is a good chance that you’ve been asked to allow a website to send you notifications. Most of the time this leads to useless notifications for new articles and sometimes you might even get spam with this method.
Here’s how to turn off all notifications in Chrome so you can use your computer without interruptions
How to Turn Off Chrome Notifications
Google makes it super easy to subscribe to website notifications, but they don’t make it easy to turn them off. Here’s where the Chrome notifications settings are hiding and what you need to do to turn them off.
- Click on the three dots in the upper right of a Chrome Window.
- Click on Settings.
- Scroll down and click on Advanced Settings.
- Under Privacy & Content click on Content Settings.
- Click on Notifications.
On this screen you can turn off Chrome notifications completely, and you can also turn on or off Chrome notifications on a specific website.
- Click the Toggle to Block all Chrome Notifications.
- Click the Toggle again to turn them back to Ask.
If you turn the control to blocked, you won’t get any Chrome notifications. This is the best way to tame annoying Chrome notifications. This may block notifications you want from Google Docs or Spotify if you use your browser.
You can also turn off individual Chrome notifications on this page. This is the best way to stop annoying Chrome notifications from a specific website.
- Scroll down to the Allow section on the Notifications page.
- Click the three dots to the right of the website you want to block.
- Choose Block.
Once you do this, you will stop getting notifications from that specific website. Repeat this with other websites you want to block.
When you are done changing the Chrome notification settings you can close the Settings tab.
