Don't Believe Customer Service Reps

Don't Believe Customer Service Reps

Samsung customer service representatives often "confirm" updates to customers either over the phone or in online chats. These customer service reps are almost always wrong.

Over the years, customer service reps have repeatedly fed customers bad information. For instance, they "confirmed" the Galaxy S6 Android Oreo update multiple times (Reddit and XDA-Forums) only for the device to stick around on Android Nougat. They are still up to their old tricks it seems.

Samsung customer service reps continue to tell Galaxy S8 users that Android 10 is coming. Don't be surprised if they continue to do so throughout 2020.

So if you see information from customer service reps making the rounds, don't get your hopes up. There's a good chance they're wrong.

You should only get excited if Samsung or a carrier partner confirms plans (blog post, announcement on social media, Wi-Fi certification, a beta) to bring Android 10 to the Galaxy S8 series.
