Windows 8 vs Windows 10: The Windows Store

The Windows Store of Windows 8 was a disaster. Microsoft only offered apps in it. Only with the Windows 8.1 update did the company make it so that purchasing an app for Windows PCs unlocked a companion version of Windows smartphones and tablets. App curation was pretty minimal.

Windows 10 moves the Windows Store in some smart directions. Developers can now package complete programs that users already know and love directly in the Windows Store. Programs available in the Windows Store stand no chance of damaging your PC. Microsoft’s music and video stores are now built into the Windows Store itself.
