Cleanup Your Storage

The exact size will vary, but you can expect the Android Oreo update to command a significant amount of space on your storage. If you're running out of space, or even if you're not, make sure you cleanup your device's storage before trying to install Android Oreo.

If you've owned your Galaxy Note 8 since launch, your internal storage is probably filled with photos you no longer need, videos you no longer watch, music you no longer like or need to store locally, and game saves you don't want any more.

If you don't clean up your storage regularly you might be surprised at how much bloat you've got on your Note 8.

Now's a great time to dig into your Note 8's storage, you can use the device's Device Maintenance menu in Settings to help narrow down the list of items to delete, and get rid of files you no longer need.

If you do this, your storage will be ready for the Oreo download and you might see a boost to your Galaxy Note 8's overall speed.

3/10 – hard drive? Who wrote this? There is no such thing as a phone with a hard drive. You are referring to the phone’s internal storage, as opposed to the external storage (microSD card). But there’s no need to confuse your readers by referring to internal storage as a “hard drive”.

Yes, back up any data not stored on the microSD card. Yes, have all your login credentials ready (this is where a password manager like LastPass can be a real lifesaver). And yes, charge your phone. In fact, the upgrade will download, but will not install unless the phone has at least 80% battery charge. And yes, enjoy the new features!
