Decide How to Install Android Oreo

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update will take weeks to complete. If you're the impatient type, you might not want to wait for the Over-the-Air update to arrive.

If you don't want to wait for Samsung or your carrier to roll out the upgrade, you can manually install the software ahead of time.

If you're interested in manually installing Android Oreo, we highly recommend getting familiar with the process before your update rolls out. That way you're prepared if you do decide to go ahead and skip the OTA.

If the manual installation process seems too complicated for your skill set, wait for the update to arrive Over-the-Air.

Yes, back up any data not stored on the microSD card. Yes, have all your login credentials ready (this is where a password manager like LastPass can be a real lifesaver). And yes, charge your phone. In fact, the upgrade will download, but will not install unless the phone has at least 80% battery charge. And yes, enjoy the new features!
