The Samsung Galaxy S10 won't be Samsung's first 5G-enabled phone, but there's a chance it's among the first to support 5G networks. As we push into 2019 we're getting closer to the widespread launch of 5G networks and the first batch of 5G-powered smartphones. Sprint says it's partnering with LG to bring its first 5G phone to the United States sometime in the first half of this year. As for Samsung, it will be partnering with Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint. Sprint says the rumored Galaxy S10 X with 5G support will arrive sometime in Summer 2019, exact date unknown. We suspect this is when other major carriers will launch the device as well. Samsung and Verizon showcased a proof of concept device with a Snapdragon X50 5G NR model at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui in December. The company's also confirmed its new Exynos 5100 5G modem. Unsurprisingly, a report from The Bell claims Samsung will launch at least one 5G-powered Galaxy S10 variant. An Android 9.0 Pie leak also hints at a 5G-powered Galaxy S10 model. This model could be limited to South Korea and the United States, two of the company's largest markets. If a high-speed 5G-powered flagship phone sounds appealing to you, think about sticking around for the Galaxy S10 X. The Samsung Galaxy S10 is already confirmed for all five major U.S. carriers. | ||||||||||||||||
