The first installment is Operation Absolute Zero, which launches today.

This is what you need to know about the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC and the Black Ops Pass for Black Ops 4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC Release Dates

Normally you can plan out Call of Duty DLC arrivals pretty easily, but that’s changing with the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC. There are no longer four different packs of maps that are coming every few months.

Instead of seeing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC arrive on PS4 one month with four maps and then a month later on Xbox One and PC with four maps, Treyarch plans more frequent releases. This also means you cannot buy the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC individually.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass content will come to PS4 first, but only a week early this time around. With Call of Duty: WWII it is a month between releases. There are no current plans for another Blackout map according to Vonderhaar.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass is the Black Ops Pass

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass is no longer known as a season pass. This doesn’t mean you are getting loads of free Black Ops 4 DLC after the release date. Instead you must purchase the Black Ops Pass if you want the DLC.

Many of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 editions come with the Black Ops Pass. This includes;

  • Digital Deluxe
  • Digital Deluxe Enhanced
  • Physical Pro Edition
  • Mystery Box Edition

If you decide to buy the base version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, you will need to buy the equivalent of the season pass later.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Pass Price

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Pass price is $49.99.

If you buy the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Digital Deluxe Edition you pay $99.99, which is $40 more than the standard edition. this includes the Black Ops Pass.

Activision suggests gamers go back to the store and upgrade to this version if they want the Black Ops Pass to get all the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC.

You will be able to purchase the Black Ops Pass as an add-on later — just like you could with a season pass.

You could save $10 on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Digital Deluxe edition when you buy at Best Buy as part of the best Black Ops 4 deals, but now that the pre-order is over, don’t expect more deals anytime soon.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC Early Access

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC is coming first to PlayStation. Instead of a month between the PS4 and the Xbox or PC, it is now a week in between the release. .

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC Content

We know what you get in the Black Ops Pass, but it might not be all the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC content that you get.

There is DLC for multiplayer, Zombies and the new Blackout Battle Royale mode. This is the confirmed Black Ops 4 DLC.

  • “Classified,” a bonus Zombies experience, available at launch
  • 4 additional all-new Zombies experiences
  • 12 Multiplayer maps
  • 4 exclusive Blackout characters

That’s a step down from the 16 maps we used to see with a season pass, and a little shocking considering Call of Duty: WWII at least added War mode maps. With Operation Absolute Zero you get;

  • New Specialist and new weapons in Multiplayer
  • Hijacked, new ARAV vehicle, and map updates in Blackout
  • All-new features in Zombies
  • Revamped Black Market

The Blackout characters are cosmetic only, and it’s not clear what they all will be yet. the first is Shawoman from Zombies. There is one massive Blackout map and we shouldn’t expect any new maps. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout map is evolving with the pass. You won’t likely need the pass for this evolution, but it may get you early access.

Activision also states that players will see in-game content and themed events that create “a robust content season.”

Zombies Black Ops 4 DLC

The Zombies Black Ops 4 DLC includes four new Zombies experiences throughout the season. We don’t know what this includes for each release, but the first arrival is Dead of the Night. The Zombies stories will include both the Aether story and the new Chaos Story with the launch episodes and the special bonus Classified.

You also get a bonus Zombies experience when you buy the Black Ops Pass. The Classified Zombies experience goes back to the Ultimis crew and it should answer some of the questions you have from older Zombies missions.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC Criticism

Gamers are upset about the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC plans for several reasons.

The first reason is that Battlefield V and other games are switching to a free DLC mode, Activision is clinging to a season pass and even doubling down on it.

That’s right, doubling down. You can’t buy individual map packs that you might like for $14.99 in Black Ops 4. You either buy the Black Ops Pass nad get the DLC, or you don’t.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 DLC Weapons

We know that there will not be Black Ops 4 DLC weapons in the Black Ops Pass.

We also know that you can buy Call of Duty Points to use in Black Ops 4. That is a clear sign that there will be Supply Drops, and that means you can count on loot boxes to deliver extra DLC.

This may be a new outfit, Double XP, calling cards and emblems — and you can expect to see weapon variants in there as well.
