Expect Staggered iPhone 8 Release Dates
Apple will probably deploy multiple iPhone 8 release dates.
You can expect the iPhone 8 release date to take place in September if you live in one of the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UAE, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the United States.
This is the list of countries that got the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on their first release date last year. Apple could switch things up in 2018 but those are the countries that are most likely to get the next batch of iPhones on the first day of availability.
On September 23rd, Apple released the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in a bunch of other regions around the world. Here's the list:
Andorra, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Kosovo, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Monaco, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus then spread to India, Macau, Macedonia, Malaysia, Montenegro, South Africa, Turkey, and a number of other countries in October. The last country to get the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus was Indonesia. Indonesians finally got the devices in March, 2017.
The iPhone 8 release might not play out exactly like the iPhone 7 launch did but we do expect Apple to use staggered release dates.
So while you might be able to pickup your iPhone 8 in September from your local Apple Store in Chicago, your friend in a secondary market like Isle of Man might not be able to get hers until later on in the year.
