Apple Pay is a very welcomed addition to the iOS’s Wallet system and now allows users to add their Debit cards to the Wallet and use them on the go. With iOS 10, support was added to use Apple Pay around the web as a form of payment.

Although Auto-filling credit cards has been an available payment option for some time, you would still be required to fill in CVV information and whatnot when making online purchases on Safari.

With iOS 10, Apple has now added the ability to use your Apple Pay cards on supported websites!

Setting up Apple Pay

The most important step is to ensure you are using Apple Pay currently. Opening the Wallet application will allow you to see if you have already added a Debit card to it. This step is usually prompted for during the setup of any new phone so you may have already added it.

The card should appear as a usable debit card if it has been added yet make sure to add one if it is not currently appearing. After your bank validates your card, you are ready to use it for Apple Pay purchases.

Double-tapping your locked iPhone screen will reveal your Wallet and allow you to make purchases using your Touch ID for authentication.

Using Apple Pay on the Web

Now that you have an available payment method for Apple Pay, you are able to use this to purchase items from supported online retailers. The Apple Online Store of course supports this feature immediately, allowing you to purchase any items you normally would with the assistance of your saved Apple Pay card.

When you reach the checkout option on your supported website, you will see Apple Pay as an option. Much like using Apple Pay in person, the device will ask for your Touch ID authentication to complete the purchase.

Apple Pay is a method of transaction that Apple is definitely trying to push for users for both convenience and security. Being able to authenticate with a fingerprint is a much safer method than simply having access to a pin or account information. Using this tool online will ease the online shopping experience for iPhone users and will likely continue to bloom to all online retailers as a viable checkout experience.
