The AirPods are not waterproof, but if you use your AirPods outdoors or when you are near a pool you should buy the Catalyst AirPod case. This case covers your AirPod case and protects it to up to 3.3 feet of water and 4.0 foot drops. This covers the Lightning port and a seal comes up around the edge of the AirPods lid to keep the water out. I like this case because it adds grip, a little protection and the optional carabiner allows me to attach the AirPods to a belt loop or to a bag for easy access while still keeping them secure.
