Install iOS 17.4.1 If You're Dealing with Problems

If your device has been struggling with bugs and/or performance issues on iOS 17 or iOS 16, think about installing iOS 17.4.1.

Apple says iOS 17.4.1 fixes bugs, but it didn't outline said fixes in detail.

New versions of iOS often fix unlisted issues. iOS 17.4.1 could fix performance issues like UI lag, Bluetooth problems, random reboots, lockups and freezes, and various issues with first-party applications.

As for older updates, iOS 17.4 included two bug fixes:

  • Fixed for an issue where contact pictures are blank in Find My
  • Fixed for an issue for Dual SIM users where the phone number changes from primary to secondary and is visible to a group they have messaged

If you've run into these problems on your device, and you missed iOS 17.4, you should probably install iOS 17.4.1 right away.

iOS 17.3.1 fixed an issue where text may unexpectedly duplicate or overlap while typing.

iOS 17.3 brought crash detection optimizations to all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models.

iOS 17.2.1 delivered unnamed bug fixes to iPhone users in the United States, but it looks like it fixed battery drain issues in other countries.

The iOS 17.2 update fixed an issue that may prevent wireless charging in certain vehicles. If you've been dealing with this issue, and you missed iOS 17.2, download iOS 17.4.1 today.

iOS 17.2 also fixed ongoing Wi-Fi issues plaguing iPhone users.

Apple's iOS 17.1.1 update had two known bug fixes on board:

  • Fixed an issue wherein rare circumstances, Apple Pay and other NFC features may become unavailable on iPhone 15 models after wireless charging in certain cars
  • Fixed an issue where the Weather Lock Screen widget may not correctly display snow

iOS 17.1 had a ton of bug fixes on board. If you missed it, and you're dealing with one of the following problems, you should install iOS 17.4.1. Here's what it fixed:

  • Improved reliability of Screen Time settings syncing across devices
  • Fixed an issue that may cause the Significant Location privacy setting to reset when transferring an Apple Watch or pairing it for the first time
  • Resolved an issue where the names of incoming callers may not appear when you are on another call
  • Addressed an issue where custom and purchased ringtones may not appear as options for your text tone
  • Fixed an issue that may cause the keyboard to be less responsive
  • Crash detection optimizations (all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models)
  • Fixed an issue that may cause display image persistence

iOS 17.0.3 fixed an issue that could cause the iPhone to run warmer than expected. This is a fix for iPhone 15 overheating issues that have dominated headlines for weeks.

If you've been dealing with this issue, and you skipped iOS 17.0.3, make sure you download iOS 17.4.1 and the latest updates for your apps.

iOS 17.0.2 fixed a problem that may “prevent transferring data directly from another iPhone during setup.”

If you skipped an iOS 16 update, you will get the bug fixes from any updates you skipped with your version of iOS 17.4.1. Again, the fixes from the update(s) you skipped are baked into your upgrade.

I’m having the same problem. Can’t send or receive messages on my IPhone 15 after I downloaded 17.4 update.
