With a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 release reportedly in the works, we want to take prospective buyers through the best reasons to wait for the rumored Galaxy Tab S8 and the best reasons to skip it and go with another device.

If you’re in the market for a new tablet you’ve got some excellent options. If you’re determined to stick with Android as your operating system, you’ll want to take a look at Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S6. Both of these devices are extremely capable and they’re much cheaper than they once were.

If you think you would be fine with a device outside of Samsung’s Galaxy family, you’ll want to investigate devices like Microsoft’s Surface Pro 7 and Amazon’s Fire HD 10.

And if you wouldn’t mind getting into Apple’s ecosystem, check out the company’s 2021 iPad Pros, 2020 iPad Pros, 2018 iPad Pros, iPad Air, iPad mini, and others from the company’s extensive iPad lineup.

If you’re on the hunt for a new tablet, but don’t necessarily need to upgrade right now, you should think about waiting for the next crop of devices.

We’ve heard that Apple’s working on a new iPad Air 5 and brand new 2022 iPad Pro models. And on the Android side of things we’ve heard Samsung’s working on a new Galaxy Tab S8 flagship. Here’s what we know thus far.

Galaxy Tab S8 Rumors

According to a leak out of Korea, Samsung is working on three versions of the Galaxy Tab S8. The devices are codenamed “Basquait” it seems. Another leak claims Samsung is working on a “new lineup” for the Galaxy Tab S8.

Leaker Ice Universe has revealed the model numbers for two Galaxy Tab S8 models. The Galaxy Tab S8+ is SM-X806x while the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is SM-X906x.

YouTube channel The Galox has released what it claims is early information about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. We’re unfamiliar with the source so take the leak with a grain of salt.

We’ve even seen renders showcase what the Galaxy Tab S8 series looks like. The renders come from leaker Evan Blass, also known as evleaks.

If Galaxy Tab S8 design rumors are accurate, and at this point there’s no reason to believe they aren’t, the high-end Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will have a small notch at the top of the design. And while the notch is certainly controversial, there’s a reason why it’s on board.

According to leaker Ice Universe, the notch houses the device’s “two front cameras, including ultra wide-angle cameras, which can shoot 4K 60fps.”

The notch has seemingly been confirmed thanks to Samsung’s own website. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra briefly appeared in an image on a support page showing off the device’s notch.

We’ve heard about the Galaxy Tab S8’s color options. According to a fairly well-known leaker on Twitter, here are the Galaxy Tab S8 color options:

  • Galaxy Tab S8 – Dark Gray, Silver
  • Galaxy Tab S8+ – Dark Gray, Silver
  • Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra – Dark Gray

The same leaker says the Galaxy Tab S8 storage options will be as follows:

  • Galaxy Tab S8 – 128GB
  • Galaxy Tab S8+ – 128GB
  • Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra – 128GB/512GB (A separate report claims the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will also come with 256GB of storage as well.)

A report from Galaxy Club suggests Samsung’s also working on a Galaxy Tab S8 Lite which would serve as the cheapest version of the company’s flagship tablet. A leaked roadmap suggests Galaxy Tab S8 Lite production will start in Q3 or Q4 of 2022.

With a Galaxy Tab S8 release almost certainly in the works, those of you in the hunt for a new tablet have an important decision to make.

While some of you might want to hang around and wait for the Galaxy Tab S8, others are better off going with another Galaxy Tab or a tablet from another family of devices.

In this guide we’ll take you through some of the best reasons to wait for the Galaxy Tab S8 and the best reasons to buy something else.

Wait Because the Galaxy Tab S8 Release Date is Close

Wait Because the Galaxy Tab S8 Release Date is Close

If you can hold out for a few more weeks you should do so.

Unless Samsung is forced to delay the Galaxy Tab S8, it looks like the tablets will debut in 2022 alongside the Galaxy S22.

The Galaxy S22 will arrive sometime in February and Samsung's Unpacked launch event is currently rumored for February 9th. The company has confirmed an event, but it hasn't confirmed a date.

That being said, we could see a delay. We've heard that COVID could force Samsung to delay some products, the Galaxy Tab S8 in particular.

A leaked Samsung roadmap puts Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra production in Q1 or Q2 of 2022.

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra recently cruised through the FCC which is a necessary step ahead of the device's worldwide release. This doesn't mean the release is right around the corner, but it's certainly getting closer.

A report out of Korea claims the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra might be hard to find. The device will reportedly be in short supply at launch and the device will evidently be limited to a few markets. The report claims this is due to yield issues and the price of the high-end models display.

i think it depends on user experience and preference. Some people will like the design and features of the S8, however, for me, I don’t like apps running jigsaw puzzle in the background in the Android operating system very much.
