Wait for the DIscless Xbox One S in Early 2019
Microsoft is working on a cheaper Xbox One S without a disc reader. This will look like the Xbox One S, without a Blu-Ray player and disc reader according to Brad Sams on Thurrott.
This will reportedly push the price of the Xbox One entry level model down to $199 or less. That means no Blu-Ray player, but you still get streaming support and you get to play digital games. Yes, you can get the Xbox One S for $199 during Black Friday, but this is a $100 price cut over the traditional amount.
Microsoft will reportedly offer a Disc to Digital program that lets you convert your games on disc to digital at a retailer like the Microsoft Store according to the report. We would expect at least one other retailer with a bigger footprint to join as trekking to a Microsoft Store is a two hour tresk for many gamers in the midwest.
This will reportedly arrive in Spring 2019 or earlier. The report also claims that we could see another Xbox One S later in 2019.
