Screen Saver (Always-On Display)

Screen Saver (Always-On Display)

A popular feature with new Samsung Galaxy devices, the Moto X or even the LG G5 is the Always-On Display. Android 7.0 Nougat doesn't have an "Always-On Display" mode, but there is a screen saver. Most don't know this exists, but it received some upgrades in Nougat.

Basically as long as your phone is on the charger, with this mode enabled, you'll see a screensaver. It's customizable by the user, with 3rd party apps having support too. The screen will stay on while it's docked or charging with information like the time, date, weather, battery life, quotes, Twitter feeds, photos and more. It's like a screen saver from a computer, but on your phone with support for 3rd party apps.

In Settings > Display you'll now see Screen Saver instead of Daydream. Turn it on, customize it, and enjoy all it has to offer while your phone is sitting on the charger. It can actually be very useful.
