iOS 11 Update: 8 Reasons to Get Excited & 4 Reasons Not To

Don't Get Excited If You Own One of These Devices
iOS 11 is coming to a ton of devices including older iPhone and iPad models like the iPhone 5s and the iPad mini 2. Unfortunately, if you own an older device like the iPhone 5 (like we do), you're out of luck. Apple's iOS 11 beta doesn't encompass older iOS-powered devices like the iPad 4, iPhone 5c, or iPhone 5. This all but rules out an official iOS 11 release for these devices in the fall. Don't expect Apple to announce a surprise release for these devices either. Apple's cutting off 32-bit app support with iOS 11 and 32-bit devices like the iPhone 5 are hitting the road along with them. If you own an older device and iOS 11 has you excited, you might want to think about making an upgrade sometime this year. And if you're planning to buy an iPhone sometime soon, keep this is in mind before you shell out cash for a device that won't see software support (features, bug fixes, security patches) past September.
