Samsung Galaxy Android Oreo: 5 Things to Expect & 3 Things Not To

Don't Expect Support to End with Android Oreo

If your device fails to secure an Android 8.0 Oreo update from Samsung it doesn't mean the company will cut off software support. Samsung might cut major updates off at the two-year mark but software support doesn't cease to exist. Older devices still get bug fixes and security patches. There are plenty of examples but here's a good one. The Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, two former flagships, didn't get Android Nougat. However, they did just get updated with new security patches from Samsung. Device security is extremely important so it's nice to see older, Marshmallow-powered devices getting this kind of support. Look for this extended support to apply to devices that miss Android 8.0.
