Control Your Lights and Home

The Apple TV 4 is the hub for your smart home. You can use Siri to control your lights and home temperature if you have HomeKit compatible lights and a thermostat.

Another handy feature is remote access to your HomeKit accessories. We can check our lights, see if the door is locked and set the thermostat from the Home app on the iPhone when we are away.

The Apple TV acts as the central hub for all of this, allowing for easier control on the go.

I buy iTunes content on my iMac and then stream to the AppleTV via our ethernet router. I’ve never noticed any lag or need for buffering. However, if I’m just renting a movie, I’ll do it on the AppleTV using the same router. I do see buffering at that point, but I doubt that a bigger HDD is going to make any difference.
