Use Siri to Start a Show on the Apple TV

With the newest version of tvOS, you can now use Siri to start a show on your Apple TV from your iPhone or iPad.

Simply say, "Play Modern Family on the living room TV", and your TV should start playing it. You activate Siri on your iPhone, not on the APple TV remote for this feature.

This only works with content that is connected to the TV app, so it won't work with all streaming services and TV shows.

I buy iTunes content on my iMac and then stream to the AppleTV via our ethernet router. I’ve never noticed any lag or need for buffering. However, if I’m just renting a movie, I’ll do it on the AppleTV using the same router. I do see buffering at that point, but I doubt that a bigger HDD is going to make any difference.
