Will My iPhone Case Fit the New iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus?
If you are in love with your iPhone 7 case or iPhone 7 Plus case you don’t need to buy a new one if you upgrade to the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus. The same goes for any iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus or iPhone 6s Plus case.
That’s right, almost any iPhone case made in the last three years will work on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Most of them will even work with the new wireless charging feature as long as they aren’t too thick.
While the iPhones are very slightly different sizes, as long as you stick with the same screen size, the case will work across all of the four generations of iPhones. You cannot use an iPhone 7 case or an iPhone 8 case on the iPhone X.
Speck told Gotta Be Mobile, “Our new iPhone 8 cases will fit the iPhone 6, 6s and 7, and same goes for Plus!” This means you can keep your current case if you upgrade, but you can also buy a new iPhone 8 case and it will fit your iPhone 7, iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus. That’s helpful since many of the newest designs and options come to the newer phone. The Speck boxes list all four models on it right now. The same goes for the iPhone 8 Plus and the proceeding 5.5-inch iPhone models.
As long as your iPhone case is 3mm thick or less, it will also allow the iPhone 8 and iPhone8 Plus wireless charging to work. Belkin confirmed this thickness limit when announcing the BoostUp wireless charging pad for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
We’ve seen a number of wallet cases for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, and are investigating how well they will work with wireless charging with credit cards in place. There is a chance that you will want to avoid using a wireless charger with credit cards in your phone as the magnetic stripe on credit cards and on other card like hotel keys can be finicky around magnets. Most wireless Qi chargers use magnets to align the phone with the charger.
Put down the ruler and rest easy knowing that you can use your current case on the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus as long as you aren’t switching screen sizes.

“Our new iPhone 8 cases will fit the iPhone 6, 6s and 7″ does not mean an iPhone 6 case will fit an iPhone 8. Bigger fits smaller. Smaller doesn’t fit bigger. Unless you don’t want to use the camera.

You are correct. I called Speck and they said the 8 will fit the 6, but not the other way around.
