I posted up about the Inventec prototype Linux Tablet PC a few hours ago. Here’s video I shot at the Qualcomm booth where the rep demonstrated the tablet pc and touch. Video after the break…

Pico projectors made a strong presence at Pepcom’s Digital Experience at CES 2009 with a slew of the tiny devices displaying impressive image quality from their dimunitive size. I took a few pictures of the devices and was shown the display engine begging to be installed into more mobile devices.
The folks at Phoenix Technologies are pretty excited about their new Hyperspace technology and rightfully so. We posted about this the other day (check out this post for the details). We caught up with them at The Digital Experience tonight and we got a head to head boot up test going with one ThinkPad running [...]

Earlier this evening, I spent some time with OQO’s Bob Rosin and got some hands-on time with the their new Model 2+. The OQO Model 2+ is available in two configurations: Standard 1.33 ghz model at $999 and Advanced 1.86 ghz model at $1499. After viewing this video, be sure to look at our [...]

With the help of Robin from Synaptics we got a quick demo of the new gestures that Synaptics is offering with their drivers for track pads. Aside from getting used to the new camera (apologies for almost swallowing it a couple of times) Robin gives us a good look at these touch options. We’ve been [...]

The Sony Vaio P was announced today and Warner and I have posted some basic specs on the device. As promised, here are the pics, followed by a video demonstration. More pics after the jump with a video at the end!

Tonight the GBM Team headed over to the Digital Experience to check out what new and exciting stuff vendors will be offering up soon. We saw everything from robotic gutter gleaners to touch screen digital watches. You’re seeing some of the videos getting posted up as I write this. We also got some shots of [...]
LG unveiled their upcoming touch-based watch phone to a bunch of ooh’s and ahh’s around the press room. At Digital Experience tonight, we got an up-close demo and got it on video. Look for this touch-based watch phone to be released later this year. No word on carriers. By the way, the LG rep wouldn’t [...]

During Steve Ballmer’s CES 2009 Keynote address tonight he more than confirmed the rumors that the Windows 7 Beta would be going public soon. It is going live on Friday and you can go and grab it from this link. You can find out more about Windows 7 here. I don’t think we’ll be [...]
I have always wanted to see these Pico projectors….pretty impressive stuff.

I stopped by the Qualcomm booth and happened upon these prototype Linux based touch tablets running on the Snap Dragon platform. The prototypes were designed by Inventec, an ODM out of Taiwan. Video later.

359 dollars gives you a pico sized projector for those moments when you need to project in a pinch. 3M is also announcing a smaller unit this year. More pics to come.

I just did an interview with OQO‘s Bob Rosin and am uploading the video now. Stay tuned for that. Meanwhile, keep reading for more on the new OQO Model 2+ = pics, specs, and pricing. Can you say $999 and super crisp / sharp? Keep reading .

I just thought I would post up that the CES Keynote is being shown live if anyone wants to check it out!

Not sure what happened with the other pic, but here’s a better cameraphone pic of the P. High res pics and a video of Sony’s Xavier Lauwaert explaining some of the features of the device are coming soon.

Goodness knows what we’ll call this thing, a UMPC, a Netbook, a really pricey ultra-portable, etc Whatever the moniker Sony is creating some buzz about the new Vaio VGN P500. Details are beginning to trickle out about the 1.4lb device and Mark Spooner seems to have gotten the goods for Laptop Mag. 8-inch 1600×800 screen [...]

Sony officially unveils the Sony Vaio P. The P will have an 8-inch ultrawide LCD display weighing 1.4 pounds and is roughly the size of a business envelope. Unlike previous rumors, the P will indeed have a keyboard. Integrated WAN, LAN, and BT connectivity are included. GPS will be built in and color options will [...]

This we gotta see. It looks and sounds like Asus is ready to rumble here at CES 2009. They’ve already showed off some impressive stuff, and this concept touch screen folds in an Origami-like interesting way. Keep in mind this is a concept. Check out the video on Engadget (no embed link available.)

The Eye-Fi folks just keep on churning out new products to make moving your photographic memories directly on-line or on to your network, The latest announcement is a new Eye-Fi card that will upload video directly to YouTube. Rob is getting ready to head out to a meeting with the folks at OQO to talk about the new Model 02+ with that OLED touchscreen. We’re all excited to see this in action and anxious to hear what Rob has to say. We’ll obviously be following this very closely, but in the meantime, the [...]

Rob and I have headed over to CntrStg, the place to be at this CES 2009. CtrStg is sponsored by HP, AMD, OtterBox, Boston Power, Eye-Fi, Big Skinny, skooba design, ProClip, American Airlines, Windows Mobile, Buzz Corps, and probably one or two companies I’ve missed. It is laid out for folks to do some serious [...]

The S10e is targeted to the education and government, and can only be ordered by contacting a sales rep at Lenovo. The model number is 4187-3AU and comes with the following configuration: Intel Atom N270, 1.6 ghz [...]

I’m finally in Vegas and have hooked up with Rob, Sierra, and Truc. We headed out for a quick bite and some planning. Note Truc is the only one using a Window Mobile device.
Truc and I are at the Toshiba press conference. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear we’ll be seeing a new Tablet PC or Netbook from Toshiba this week. Their USB press kit contains just TVs, TV/DVD combos, and stand alone players. As is always the case with CES, that may change as the day and week progresses [...]

EMTEC is joining in on the Netbook scene with the release of the Gdium. This netbook has some similar specs of some other netbooks but offers one unique feature: Unique to the Gdium is the G-Key, a bootable USB key on which the Linux operating system, applications and personal data are stored. The G-Key allows [...]
I just got off the phone with Motion Computing and they have announced some leadership changes at the top of the company. Scott Eckert has resigned as CEO, being replaced by David Altounian. In addition to serving as CEO, David will be joined by Eric Harslem as co-chairmen of the board. In addition to these [...]

One word has been used by journalists to describe Apple’s last Macworld: dull. Blogs such as Unpluggd featured polls for readers to chime in on what new products they expected from Apple. An Apple netbook, a redesigned iPhone and an Apple Tablet appeared to lead the buzz. The hype was huge, but [...]

TechwareLabs is reporting that Asus has introduced their new Eee PC keyboard with an integrated screen. The keyboard itself apparently features the guts of a typical netbook and integrates some type of built-in navigation screen. No word on whether the integrated screen is removable or touch sensitive. Official specs are unclear other [...]

Tonight, Rob, Sierra and I were at CES Unveiled and noticed that a significant number of manufacturers are incorporating touch technology in their latest and greatest releases. It seemed as though you couldn’t walk around the Unveiled show floor without being within eyesight of another touch sensitive product. The usual suspects are all in on [...]

We saw a very cool HP Universal Docking Station, that has supposedly been announced but I have not seen mention of it, that allows graphics over USB, powering up to 6 external monitors. According to the rep, it uses a technology from DisplayLink Corp to make this happen. In this video, an HP Mini 1000 [...]

One of the more crowded and active booths at CES Unveiling was the PowerMat wireless recharging station. The concept has been around for a while now, but this was my first experience with this technology. The process is quite simple: place your device of choice in the various charging adapters (what PowerMat calls “receivers”) and [...]
You know that portable hard drive sitting in your bag? What if someone got a hold of it and then had access to all of your backup and mobile data? Well, that is the kind of scenario Lenovo is hoping to address with their new USB Portable Secure Hard Drive. Plug it in to a [...]
