We got an Asus rep to show off their Asus Eee PC tablet prototypes – both the 10″ and 8.9″ – they wouldn’t turn them on, but you get to see the keyboards better and in more action than photos. No word on release date or price, but the rep is clearly excited about their [...]

Asus EEE PC Tablet – More pics of the T101 H

As Rob posted from the floor, Asus aims to impress again with a tablet version of the ever popular EEE PC. Even though this can be seen as just another EEE device, the significance of that swiveling hinge cannot be understated. The device will have a resistive touch screen and will make a compelling case [...]

Lenovo A600 Air Remote Demoed

Lenovo’s new all-in-one, the A600, has a nifty new feature: the remote has built-in VOIP features and its new accelerometer lets allows you to play ping pong, and such, like you do on the Wii. I tried it out and it feels just like playing on the Wii. Check out the video demo.

While Rob, Truc, and Sierra are on planes to CES 2009 and I prepare to leave tomorrow, focus in the geek world today is on MacWorld and what Apple will or will not offer. Some of the big news seems to be centered around the fact that Apple will be easing or losing its Digital [...]

Palm To Launch New Nova OS At CES

It’s no secret that Palm has been losing market share to RIM, Apple, and HTC year after year. Palm started abandoning their own OS in lieu of various iterations of Windows Mobile on their devices, much to the chagrin of its loyal users who miss the simplicity and stability of the Palm OS. According to [...]

So, Let’s Decide This Netbook Naming Thing

OK, we’ve got a rare opportunity coming up here to solve one of the deepest, most profound, most critical, most divisive, most contentious, (and if you can’t read the previous list of as hyperbole and irony then move on) issues facing the mobile computing world today. First the issue: What are we going to call [...]

Netbook Fever: Should There Be A Cure?

Netbook Fever: Should There Be A Cure?

I’ve largely stayed away from Netbooks, outside of reviewing them and checking them out. My wife is still running an original Asus Eee PC and seems quite content with it for the way she uses it. But there is no doubt that Netbooks, or whatever the heck we are going to call them, are attractive [...]

Is Apple Blocking Google’s Chrome Browser on Me.com?

Last month I made the change from an Exchange hosted service to Apple’s MobileMe / Me.com . So far, I’ve been pretty impressed with the services, the cost, and the reliability of the sync process. Apple has clearly made some headway since the disastrous launch last year. However, all is not good in Google Chrome [...]

Why are Movie Apps Moving to the Cloud?

Why are Movie Apps Moving to the Cloud?

First Microsoft decided to move Windows Movie Maker to its Live suite of apps. If you haven’t tried out the cloud version, save yourself the trouble. It is a painful experience, and one I’m not looking forward to when the desktop client is dropped in Windows 7. (To be fair, I think it is still [...]

Android Netbook on the Way?

Android Netbook on the Way?

I’m sure we are going to see this sooner or later, and I’d vote for sooner rather than putting it off. Netbooks, or whatever we are going to end up calling them, seem to be tailor made for something like Google’s Android. After all they started out as a Linux alternative to Windows.

Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000

I am at Staples and just happened across the Microsoft Mobile Mouse 3000. They are quite comfortable, stylish, and priced right at 29.99. Too bad the USB receiver isn’t as small as the Logitech Nano. Worth checking out if you are in need of a mobile mouse.
