A small dongle plugs into the bottom of your iPod and a base station plugs into [...]

While not a mobile device, our fascination with all things touch at GBM has us wanting to learn more about this rare, early generation iMac with an installed touchscreen. The seller’s brief description tells us that these limited edition iMacs were originally used in kiosks requiring touch input. A measly $70 OBO will [...]

Today we’re giving away a 2GB Eye-Fi Share card from Eye-Fi, which automatically uploads pictures from your digital camera to your favorite photo sharing site and your computer. I’ve been using an Eye-Fi card for the past [...]

AT&T’s reception is spotty (at best), leaving us iPhone users yearning for more bars just about everywhere. Kevin Tofel checked out the Wilson Electronics iBooster in a video over at jkOnTheRun. The iBooster improved his iPhone’s reception from two bars to a solid five bars while in his car. If the iBooster sounds like something [...]

Jason from Digital Home Thoughts just got his red Dell Inspiron Mini 10 and posted an unboxing video. He likes its appearance, but questions its price point compared to other netbooks. The Dell Mini 10 has an Intel Atom Z530 processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP and a 3-cell battery. The Mini [...]

I got to unbox and play with the the world’s thinnest notebook yesterday. Dell’s Adamo is just 0.65″ thick and is drop-dead gorgeous. It’s designed to appeal to fashion-conscious consumers, but this pricey machine is going to be a tough sell in this economy.

Today we’re giving away a 160GB Clickfree Portable Drive, which offers the simplest way to back up your data. All you have to do is plug the Clickfree drive into your computer and it will automatically back [...]

Rob posted some great photos and videos detailing Motion Computing’s rugged J3400 slate earlier this week. Rob didn’t get around to spraying it with water or dropping it onto the ground, but test engineers from Motion of course did. They were kind enough to share the videos on YouTube. The below video shows just [...]

HP’s finally offering the VGA cable necessary to hook a Mini 1000 up to an external display. HP launched the Mini 1000 several months ago and has taken way longer than usual to roll out accessories for it. Mini 1000 owners can snag one of these $19.99 cables from HP.com. If you don’t want to [...]

James from jkOnTheRun has been blogging about reviving his HP Compaq tc1100 convertible tablet. There’s no doubt that netbook prices are appealing, but computer buyers on a budget should broaden their horizons and consider older, used and refurbished devices. James wrote: My recent project to reincorporate the old but capable HP tc1100 Tablet PC back [...]

Microsoft will be making the much anticipated IE8 available at 12pm EDT, today, March 19th, 2009. Microsoft’s latest attempt to keep its market share in light of some stiff competition from Mozilla’s Firefox, Opera Browser, Apple’s Safari, and even Google’s Chrome Browser looks promising. Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer claims, “With Internet Explorer 8, we are delivering [...]

Do you find yourself wishing your notebook computer was sometimes a tablet? Have you been putting off getting a tablet because of the tradeoffs? Are JKK’s and Chippy’s touchscreen modifications to standard netbooks something you’ve always wanted to do but weren’t comfortable doing? If you answered “yes” to these questions, Hanwha Japan’s Duo just might [...]

We’re trying to close your gadget deficit while the economy’s in the dumps with the Gadget Stimulus Plan. Today we’re giving away a Lenovo IdeaPad S10. This IdeaPad S10 comes with 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 512MB of RAM, 80GB hard drive and Windows XP. We recommend adding some more memory and a larger hard drive, [...]

Netbooks seem like the only subcategory in the computer segment that is enjoying recession-proof growth and Targus has joined in on the craze. With 35 million netbooks projected to be sold in 2009 and over 130 million by 2013, it only makes sense that a computer accessory manufacturer releases a decent all-in-one kit for the [...]
Loren Heiny is following the news from MIX09 and just posted that the new Silverlight Beta that is being unveiled by Microsoft now contains multi-touch support. Scott Guthrie just announced at Mix09 support for multitouch in Silverlight 3. The Silverlight 3 beta is available here, but no idea if the feature is enabled here.

Today’s deal of the day is the Dell Inspiron 13, which starts at just $384. We mentioned this deal earlier this week, but it’s worth repeating. The $384 Dell Inspiron 13 comes with an Intel Celeron processor, 1GB of RAM, DVD burner and 160GB hard drive. For $50 extra you can upgrade to a dual-core [...]

Given a choice, I will always use a mobile computer that supports an extended battery over a regular battery. For me, the benefit of additional battery life outweighs the extra weight or thickness. When I saw that the 6-cell battery for HP’s Mini 1000 was 20% off, I decided to go ahead and order one. [...]
I always love a contest that has such positive outcomes – our HP Magic Giveaway contest from last year being a perfect example. Just yesterday I received an email from David Arpino, the contest winner, updating me with how he’s using the TouchSmart and how the Restoration House Projection is continuing to use their HP [...]

I’m surprised we haven’t heard more about this already, but then, hey, sometimes things move slower than the speed of light in the great Netbook race. Engadget is reporting a rumor that Verizon and HP are prepping a subsidized plan for Netbooks that will launch in the second quarter. No specifics as this qualifies as [...]

Google took its Chrome browser out of Beta last year and now it is back. Apparently the improvements in the new Beta are on the speed front with Google touting that this version is now 25% faster. That would be impressive as Google Chrome was already quite fast. There are also new features including form [...]

It has an 8 inch high definition display capable of showing up to 260,000 colors. It comes with Bluetooth and WiFi radios and supposedly will run [...]

I missed all the live blogging on Apple’s iPhone announcement today, opting instead to have lunch with some friends. Given all the frenzy about the annoucement it wasn’t hard to catch up though. My quick thoughts on what I’ve read so far are that even though Apple is adding a lot to the iPhone 3.0 [...]

The BT530 makes it possible for the person on the other end of the line to hear you, even if you’re in a noisy environment. It gets up to 5.5 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time. [...]

I think the name makes a lot of sense. VIA Technologies is touting a new reference design for Netbook motherboards calling it the Surfboard C855 Reference Design. The Surfboard is geared to handle 1080p video playback and 8 channel audio while using a low power VIA C7-M processor. The Surfboard C855 can run 1.6GHz [...]

There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Motion Computing’s announcement of the J3400 Rugged Slate Table PC. It has been a while since we’ve seen anything new come from Motion, so yesterday’s announcement was our first look at what they’ve working on the past several years. Overall, folks are quite impressed with what [...]

Last week we brought you word of Laptop Mag’s reporting on shady sales practices at Office Depot. The theme behind the shennanigans was that managers and sales associates were being required to push highly profitable add ons like extended warranties and tech services and would tell customers that a device was out of stock if [...]

I guess Dell is banking on Luxury selling as they release the eagerly anticipated Adamo Notebook today. At a price of $1,999 I think it is a gamble. Both Brian Solis of PR 2.0 grabbed some pictures of the new machine at SXSW and posted them up, and the folks at Crave have a hands [...]

I’m going on record tonight and saying that Apple will not show us an Apple Tablet sitting at the end of the rainbow on St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow. Rumors continue to run rampant, mostly fueled today by this post in Computer World. I just don’t think a Tablet or a Netbook, the way we’ve come [...]

High school student Daniel S. wrote a term paper about tablet computing for his honors humanities class. He asked the GottaBeMobile community to help with the paper, you provided some great info and I’m happy to report he earned an “A”! In what looks to be a very VERY cool little device you can see that there is also some type of touchscreen. The Yoga looks very professional [...]
