After a brief period of denial, Plastic Logic has confirmed their QUE ProReader is being skipped in favor of a next-generation version of the product.

Word from Wired’s Gadget Lab is that the QUE ProReader from Plastic Logic, the ultra-premium eReader with an ultra-premium price tag, has been delayed for an undetermined period of time. They’re calling it vaporware. I’m calling it the iPad’s first confirmed kill.

Barnes & Noble continues with a both feet in to the deep end approach to the eBook market saying that it will not only have the Nook available in stores, but the Plastic Logic QUE on shelves as well. There’s a catch though. B&N will not be stocking the digital eBook Readers in every store. [...]

Let’s see. Full 8.5×11″ readable? Yes. Touchscreen? Yes. Less than 1 pound? Definitely! Note taking capability? Looks like yes. Unfortunately I’ll have to wait until next year to get it.
