The notebook comes by way of HP via the company’s Pavilion model. The HP Pavilion dm1, though not demoed at the [...]

I finally got to spend some time taking a look at the Kno at CES 2011. For those of you not in the Kno, the dual screen tablet is supposed to be the e-textbook and note-taking device of the future. As much as I hated lugging around textbook back in college, I don’t think this device is [...]

Speck introduced a pair of rugged iPhone 4 case at CES 2011. The ToughSkin has two layers of protection, including a rubber layer to soften drops. The inner layer of the case is rigid. The ToughShell has three layers of protection and is designed for those who abuse their iPhones the most, including first responders [...]

ArtRage is showing off its painting applications at CES. While the best I can manage to draw on an iPad is something that resembles a first grader’s finger painting, some artists can create some really good looking stuff. Here’s a photo of ArtRage for iPad in action at CES 2011. As I watched the artist [...]

Here at CES Lenovo is announcing some really cool products for consumers and business users with new AMD Fusion APUs and Intel Sandy Bridge processors. They even have a laptop that boots faster than a MacBook Air. Lenovo is the official sponsor of Notebooks.com and GottaBeMobile at CES and has provided us with two of their Lenovo IdeaPad [...]

Robert Scoble and Netbook King Sascha Pallenberg teamed up for a quick video look and lots of chatter about the Motorola Xoom Tablet and the Atrix dockable phone (see more video of that here) that everyone seems very excited about at CES 2011. It’s always interesting to hear Sascha’s take on things, and you do [...]

Fujitsu brought a teddy bear, a working concept for the company, aimed at keeping the elderly and aging population of Japan company. As a companion device, this teddy bear is more fuzzy and welcoming, with its softer materials, than the harsh metal terminator-style look of Sony’s old Aibo dog. The teddy bear has a number [...]

Rob Bushway has his own personal blog going. And while he may not be gadget blogging like the rest of us addicts, he still weighs in on how things are going occasionally. Rob’s was and is a voice I always respect when it comes to things mobile and Tablets, and he’s posted a piece about [...]

It may still be too early to tell but the Notion Ink Adam seems to have run the gauntlet of bloggers and press at CES 2011 and come out the other side in very good shape. By and large the coverage I’ve seen indicates that folks are very impressed with what they are seeing from [...]

Sony is one of the few companies at CES 2011 that isn’t showing off a Tablet. But apparently they want to be in the Great Tablet Race. According to remarks made at CES 2011, not only do they want to be in the race, Sony is boasting that it will be the number two Tablet [...]

Novatel told us that in addition to launching a 4G personal mobile hotspot router, called the Novatel MiFi 4G LTE for Verizon Wireless, the company will be working with the U.S. carrier to also deliver a USB data modem. The company didn’t disclose information for pricing nor availability, but a Novatel USB 4G LTE modem [...]

Though the MiFi mobile hotspot router devices have been announced for 4G networks for Sprint and Verizon Wireless in the U.S., neither model are available yet–Verizon Wireless says its 3G/4G LTE model will launch in the first half of 2011 while Sprint says its 3G/4G WiMax model is coming February for $50. We did have [...]

Verizon Wireless had earlier today announced the 4G LTE LG Revolution smartphone, which the company says uses an “LG chip” as a processor. If true, it looks like LG may be joining the mobile CPU arms race for ARM-powered processors, joining heavyweights like Samsung, TI, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Marvell. Like the other 4G LTE phones [...]

Kensington introduced the PowerLift Back-Up Battery and Dock at CES 2011 today. The device plugs into an AC adapter, charging your iPhone while at home or at work. While it’s plugged into the wall, the PowerLift’s 1200 mah battery, which can provide up to 3.5 hours of talk time. The PowerLift looks pretty versatile, but talking [...]

We’ve certainly seen some interesting news about Google’s made for Tablets Honeycomb (Android 3.0). Well there’s more to see. After the T-Mobile event at CES 2011 today when the G-Slate from LG was one of the big stars the following videos were released. Enjoy the viewing.

If you tell me you didn’t see this coming back when you bought your Samsung Galaxy Tab you’re lying. Or maybe you ignored that recent price drop that happened, oh, when was that, last weekend? OK, maybe you’re not lying. Maybe you’re just an early adopter with lousy rationalization skills. Verizon today announced that they [...]

At the 4G press conference today, U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless made the HTC Thunderbolt official as a 4G smartphone for its emerging LTE network, which will launch during the first half of 2011. The phone will have a 4.3-inch display with Dolby surround sound speakers, kickstand, front- and rear-facing camera, and mobile hotspot capabilities. As [...]

The slate device has a revised user interface and experience that takes advantage of scrollable widgets, multiple panes, multiple browsing tabs, and a carousel user interface. The device will feature a bright, crisp Super AMOLED Plus display measuring 4.3 inches along with deep integration with Skype [...]

Motorola and AT&T are diving into territories of the Palm Foleo, a prototype yet unreleased productivity device that runs your applications from the phone but doesn’t have any processing power of its own. For the AT&T Atrix 4G Android phone, Motorola had created a solution, available soon, for AT&T that will allow the Atrix to [...]

As I write this, Xavier and Josh are checking out the mobile wares from Dell at CES 2011. While they snap photos and get hands-on impressions, we have the official word from Dell on what their Venue smartphone and Streak 7 tablet will offer.

The makers of one of my favorite gadgets, The PogoPlug see the shape of things to come (read web HD video) and the next PogoPlug device, appropriately called the PogoPlug Video. The PogoPlug video is built to help you stream that video from your own little personal cloud to whatever device you want to glue [...]

So the Big Ballmer took the wraps off Windows for ARM, which turns out will be the next version of Windows, ruining predictions by myself and others that he would be showing Windows Embedded Compact 7. Can’t say I’m too upset by that, particularly since there’s more to this story than missing a prediction.

Rohan Marley, the son of music legend Bob Marley, launched a line of iPod and iPhone accessories at CES 2011. Reggae fans will instantly recognize the names behind the accessories. The Jammin, Freedom and Destiny lines of earbuds and iPod docks stand out in the sea of iAccessories. Many of the accessories feature wood grain, [...]

Interesting if this comes to be. Video based phone conferencing is one of those things that everyone hopes will be the next big thing. (See Apple’s FaceTime, see Skype’s new update that allows video communication on the iPhone, see Qik being used for similar kinds of things on Android, see Fring.) And of course web [...]

OtterBox announced a new line of mobile phone cases at CES 2011 today. The Reflex Series is inspired by automobile crumple zone design. When dropped, the Reflex Series case flexes and rebounds, absorbing the impact so your iPhone 4 or BlackBerry Curve doesn’t have to. OtterBox makes some of the best mobile cases out there [...]

Though hardly an earth-shaker in terms of CES 2011 news, Fujitsu’s announcement of the Lifebook T901 Tablet PC, a refresh of the T900, has some interesting details snuck in with it, including mention of five-finger multi-touch detection.

Motorola had announced the Motorola Droid Bionic for Verizon Wireless yesterday at a press conference in Las Vegas, NV and we were there to get some hands-on time and a demo from Motorola’s team. The Bionic is the next generation of Droid, and as a Droid device, the “Droid [Bionic] Does” a lot with its [...]

We were able to go hands-on with the HTC Inspire 4G, a large 4.3-inch Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone with HTC Sense. The HTC Inspire 4G is an HSPA+ smartphone that is essentially the AT&T re-badged version of the European HTC Desire HD. The design utilizes HTC’s unibody aluminum design and feels slim, solid, and very [...]

At the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung brought a few prototypes of its flexible AMOLED display panels, which are shown with curved, wavy hard plastic casings showing that the flexible displays can be curved and bended to fit different types of surfaces for new display applications. Perhaps a wearable watch where even the wristband could be [...]

Steve Ballmer took the stage in his Microsoft blue shirt last night and delivered a keynote address that can best be described as “don’t count us out, please wait and see what we have to say next year.” That may be a bit unfair, but when the first half of the keynote talks about things [...]

At the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung Mobile was showing off some transparent 3D displays of screen sizes 14- and 19-inch. The displays essentially created a moving diorama and gives off a pretty impressive glasses-free 3D effect that you can see in the videos below. The displays use AMOLED technology.

Microsoft’s Surface technology has always been some very cool technology. If you’re a casino, or other big money business that can afford to play the game. I guess it’s no real surprise that after the release of Windows Phone 7 we’d see a Surface 2.0 update since one of the appealing factors of the Surface [...]
