On Saturday, November 17, Staples will begin selling pre-orders for the Samsung Nexus 10 tablet in stores and online.
Staples will only sell the 32GB model of the Nexus 10 for $499, and buyers can expect the tablet to ship around the end of December from December 23rd to the 30th. Delivery of the tablet should take 2 to 3 business days, so the tablet will likely arrive just after Christmas for most people who pre-order the device.
The Nexus 10 is Google’s latest tablet made in collaboration with Samsung. The device features a 10-inch display with a 2560×1600 resolution, the same resolution as the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The tablet uses the latest version of Android, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Because it runs Android 4.2 the Nexus 10 is one of the few tablets on the market that supports multiple accounts on the same device. That means users don’t need to worry that others who might pick up the tablet will read their email, close open tabs in the browser, or lose their place in an ebook. Android 4.2 also brings an easy-to-access Settings menu in the notification drawer and widgets on the lock screen.
Anyone who couldn’t pre-order the Nexus 10 from the Google Play Store will want to show up to Staples early on Saturday to pre-order the tablet. If the Nexus 10 follows the lead of the Nexus 7, stores will have difficulty keeping it in stock in the first few weeks.
In addition to the Nexus 10, Staples will continue to carry the Nexus 7 tablet, now in 16GB and 32GB models. Staples does not carry the 32GB model with HSPA+, however. The Nexus 7 also ships with Android 4.2 and has many of the same features as the Nexus 10 in a smaller device.
Staples doesn’t advertise any Black Friday deals on either Nexus tablet, but it will have sale on several HP Windows 8 laptops starting November 18. The company will also offer special flash deals for mobile shoppers starting 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
